SAM Global Foundation

Activities benefiting local communities

SAM Global Foundation is a non profit Foundation with its focus on activities which benefit the local community.

The proceeds from the SAM Conferences (post operative costs) and any donations received, will be used by The SAM Global Foundation to fund people and ideas that will benefit the less privileged in the sector of women and youth empowerment, education, the differently abled, senior citizens, animal welfare, rural development and health & hygiene . All projects will focus on these areas but in innovative ways, tech savvy and environment friendly methods .

To achieve this we are building THE SAMARIUM.

The SAMARIUM is a project envisaged by The SAM Global Foundation .It will be set up at a place which is a minimum 10 acres . We have already been assured the land which is just outside Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

We at SAM Global Foundation believe that it is not enough to give people fish but to teach them how to fish so that the projects can sustain themselves .For example everyone getting a benefit at The SAMARIUM will contribute something back to the community by imparting a skill or Volunteering their time and effort.

It is not our intention to reinvent the wheel .Our intention is to take best ideas and practices across the world where our SAM Conferences are held and implement them at The SAMARIUM. All SAM events will be in aid of The SAMARIUM –The Community project of The SAM Global Foundation.

The SAMARIUM will use technologies that will ultimately be useful to the society at large as shown below. It will be a place of innovation, Inspiration and hope. It will be a place WHERE IDEAS MEET and get implemented.

Some of the projects that will be part of The SAMARIUM are:
  • Soul Kitchen
  • Organic Farm
  • Animal Farm
  • Musical School
  • Rural Development Center
  • Senior Citizens home

Our vision of The Soul Kitchen is to serve healthy, delicious, and when possible, organic meals. At The Soul Kitchen there are no prices on the menu and you might be seated with someone you don’t know. Customers pay the minimum donation or volunteer in some way to earn a dining certificate for a meal.

The MANIFESTO for the Soul Kitchen will be :
All are welcome at our table.

At The SGF Soul Kitchen, a place is ready for you if you are hungry, or if you hunger to make a difference in your community. For we believe that a healthy meal can feed the soul.

Happy are the hands that feed.

Those who volunteer are guided by Soul Kitchen staff through their tasks. Volunteering at Soul Kitchen can lead to qualifying for job training.

When there is love, there is plenty.

Our menu has no prices. You select what you like and make the minimum donation. If you can afford to donate more you are helping to feed your neighbor. If you are unable to donate, an hour of volunteering pays for your meal.

Good company whets the appetite.

At The Soul Kitchen, neighbors from across the street or across town, new friends, families, those in need of help and those with help to offer, come together and share a good meal and the warmth of good company.

Friendship is our daily special.

Introduce yourself to the person seated beside you or across the table. Stay awhile and stay informed of all the ways The Soul Kitchen is dedicated to eliminating hunger, building relationships, and celebrating community.

End the meal with a slice of happiness.

At Soul Kitchen the main ingredient is Love, with a large helping of you. Our chefs prepare healthy, delicious meals with the freshest ingredients, some grown in our own organic garden. At The SGF Soul Kitchen all are treated with cheerfulness, kindness, and respect.

This is not the usual organic farm that needs a lot of space but it is a organic farm with a difference! How do we propose to grow the food that will cater to the Soul Kitchen? We plan to partner with Dutch Company, Plant Labs, to grow such food. This is possible as the owners of these technologies come to Chennai to speak at the SAM Global conferences and we will involve them at the projects at The SAMARIUM .

Pet Partners, Pawsitive Pals are some of the names we are consider giving this project. The animals at the Farm will be trained to be service dogs in Animal Aided Therapy for Animal human interaction.

We hope to set up a music school to help youth to hone their musical talents using expert musicians who will volunteer their time and musical skills .We would collaborate with organizations like SAM (Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music), KM Conservatory of Oscar winner AR Rahaman and with Musicians like Anil Srinivasan to get this project going. The video below explains what we have in mind

Rural development generally refers to the process of improving the quality of life and economic well-being of people living in relatively isolated and sparsely populated areas.

We hope to gather best practices from across the world to introduce technologies that can make a difference to our villages .We will collaborate with Organizations like the M.S.Swaminathan Research Foundation to document rural and tribal wisdom and seek solutions to problems.

We will use this place to utilize the experience and wisdom of the senior citizens to guide and mentor our youth. Subject matter experts will be sought out and brought here in the fields of Yoga and ancient medicines systems like Ayerveda Siddha, Unani etc .

Latest techniques and interventions in non medical palliative care will be taught to volunteers and they will be trained by experts from the US and this will be taken to hospitals and clinics across the city. Rights and privileges of terminally ill patients will be disseminated and the patients will to determine his last stages of life will be championed ! Volunteers will also be trained in pain management systems and this concept will be introduced in leading hospitals and in palliative care clinics !
